EWB CT Conference 2012

Nearby EWB Chapters meet to discuss their projects and exchange ideas.

These are pictures from the trip to Kikoo in May 2011. The group of Parker Collins, Caroline Dewing, Antonella Lisanti, Glen Meyerowitz, and Dana Miller worked with the community to build ventilated improved pit (VIP) latrines. The group was mentored by Joshua Knight.

EWB International Conference

Dana Miller, Antonella Lisanti, Ethan Carlson, and Glen Meyerowitz attended the 2011 EWB-USA International Conference in Louisville, KY in March to represent Yale and EWB-Yale in receiving a Premier Project award for the Kikoo project.

Incubator Project

In the 2010-2011 academic year, EWB-Yale built a prototype portable incubator system to take to Cameroon in March, 2011. This gallery documents the creation of that system in the hopes that the designs may be of use to someone in the future. Email ethan.carlson@yale.edu with any questions.

EWB Northeast Conference (November 2009)

In November 2009, several of us drove up to Boston to attend EWB-USA's Northeast region conference. The conference included a poster session to meet members of other college and professional EWB chapters and learn about their projects, as well as talks on various topics in sustainable engineering and community work.

Cameroon Trip, 2008-2009

Photos from our 3rd trip, mainly an assessment trip, to Kikoo Village, in the Bui Region in northwest Cameroon. During the trip, we inspected the constructed portions of Kikoo's water distribution system (up to Standpipe 7 of 13) and gathered improved topographical data using Total Station survey for the eastern side of Kikoo.

Cameroon Trip 2009-2010

Photos from our most recent implementation trip to Kikoo Village, in the Bui Region in northwest Cameroon. During the trip, we inspected all constructed portions of Kikoo's water distribution system, gathered improved topographical data using Total Station survey, and assisted in preparing for the construction of the village's second storage tank. We also tested water cleanliness and flow rates at the various standpipes, met with community members to discuss water issues, and held activities on good hygiene and water quality for Kikoo's schoolchildren.
