Why Chemical Engineering and EWB?

Hi, everyone! My name is Shahribonu Azamatov, and I am the Public Relations Lead for EWB. I am currently a rising junior majoring in Chemical Engineering and Energy Studies.

Why Chemical Engineering and EWB?

I was born in Samarkand (a city on the Silk Road or the second largest city in Uzbekistan) but moved to Brooklyn, New York, when I was ten. I grew up in Brooklyn and would love to go back one day. Growing up, I had a strong interest in engineering. I loved building new things, but I also had a great passion for chemistry, so when I got to college Chemical Engineering sounded like something I would enjoy doing, and I do. All the classes I have taken at Yale have been inspiring! EWB also greatly influenced why I chose engineering, and I made the right decision when I declared my major. People at the EWB chapter at Yale are all so supportive and have different backgrounds. Traveling to diverse Ecuador or Tanzania made me more excited about contributing to the engineering community. EWB is composed not just of engineers but of individuals in many fields that would be useful to grow the chapter and help people. If you have questions please dont hesitate to reach out!

Best,

Shahribonu Azamatova
